Macbook Pro and LaCie HDD
I bought a macbook pro a few months back and faced an issue where i was not able copy files to my Lacie BigDIsk HDD (500 GB). After doing some research i realised that it was due to a difference in the file structure between my windows formated HDD and my new macbook pro. My computer guy told me that i will have to backup my entire data , format the HDD and put the data back. But i leaned that by doing that, my HDD would be inaccessible on the windows XP laptop.
But i wasn’t going to give up , did a little research and found macFUSE. its enable the mac OS X to read and write on windows formatted HDDs. Its a free app on Google Code website. I will be attaching the location at the bottom of the post.
Have you had a similar issue, what did you tech support advise you ?
OMCAR 2009
Web Innovation Conference 2009
Today i had gone to the web innovation conference held at Leela Kimpenski in Gurgaon, India. My reason for attending the conference was coz the title seems interesting and maybe i could gather a few insights in the indian context for web marketing and e-commerce in india.
There were i few interesting presentations, but no one really emphasized on web marketing nor e-commerce. All presenters (apart from the indian railways) portrayed a corporate website as a pure expense with not direct means of monetization and just as a means of dissipating information. Most of them talked about Web 2.0 and it effects on the internet landscape, where as i still dont see people grasping the concept of Web 1.0 completely.
A good initial attempt of spreading awareness about the utility of the internet, but thats my personal opinion.
ipod dis-assembled
i had an old 4th generation photo ipod (around 2004 or 2005 i guess) ….. yes it was the first colored ipod available in the market, and thats exactly why i bought it…….. it was a birthday present when i reached high school……. one years later, obviously i did not opt for the extended warranty and the ipod exactly after it first anniversary (sounds weird, i know) i started creating problems, such as the battery zonking off at times and it giving me an ‘unable to write harddisk error (at that time i used to use it to backup my computer)…. we all know how that ended. i lost the entire backup ….poor me
but i wasn’t going to give up in an expensive piece of hardware, so i some how managed to drag it for another 16 months before it became an ideal paper weight on my desk. a few days back i came across an article on http://www.lifehacker.com and got really inspired. and split open my ipod with the help of my trustful swissarmy knife and amazing was able to fix my ipod..and apperently fixed all the problems i faces earlier including the battery problem , i don’t exactly know how but it got fixed… now i use it as an music system in my room……
the law of attraction
life is weird, when we think and feel great something exactly opposite happens. cant really find out why, the closest i got to solving the issue is book ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne. It an excellent book, i think the is the closest a person can come to regulating what happens around us. I went and bought the book and the video dvd also.
The books talk about the law of attracting and how we act as magnets and attract stuff around us. Ranging from the smallest of things to the biggest of things. Its one of my must read titles.
life and success !!!
there is no such thing as failure, only early attempts of success.

Sennheiser HD-202 headset
i recently purchased these from my recent trip to mumbai, india. They are i must say produce excellent sound quality (the best ive used till now), they really make music come alive……. decent in the isolation department.
I got them from around 1,700 INR ( a good bargain), didn’t have many options to choose from though. But i must warn you , they aren’t the most comfortable headset i have (what can i say i have big ears) ….. but i’m ok with that ……. an overall good buy.
transition from pc-to-mac
The transition from a PC to a mac was not what i would call easy. I had been using PC for the past 10 years, along with a little bit of solaris and a few variants of linux. But mac was different, it was more organized and integrated. Apple is an OEM manufacturer, that is they manufacture software only for their hardware, both are created and marketed by the same firm, ,unlike microsoft who just make the software component. ………….. Ok ok …..enough of the techie bit……
I suggest a person who really wants to migrate to a mac should go through the apple website and try to understand the basic aspects of a mac. one of my biggest initial issues was the difference in the file systems i.e. hard-disk formats. The guys who sold my the laptop did not let me that when they sold me the product. I had all my data backed up on an external hard-disk in the NTFS and FAT32 format. It was extremely frustrating not being able to understand who to do have to do, but knowing me i did find a free solution online, its called MacFuse and can be found at http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/
Secondly, installing softwares is very different form windows…. where you have an executable file. in a mac you need to drag and drop the software in the ‘Application’ folder.
my new mac…. finally
